Omega Speedmaster Chronograph reference 145.022-69 ST from 1969 (serial number 28 XXX XXX), the legendary model worn by NASA astronauts during the Apollo lunar missions. This collector’s watch features an exceptional natural patina that evokes the golden era of space exploration in the 1970s. Retaining all its original parts, it has become a highly sought-after piece due to its production during the height of the Apollo program.
Equipped with one of the first caliber C 861 movements — based on the Lemania 1873 — this hand-wound mechanical movement features 18 jewels, giving it excellent resistance to shocks and vibrations. (This model was officially “Space-Flight Certified” by NASA’s laboratories in 1971.) The Speedmaster runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour, ensuring 1/5th of a second accuracy. It was also awarded the Snoopy Award for its role in the safe return of the Apollo 13 crew.
This small seconds chronograph operates in Stop-and-Go mode (start/stop via the upper pusher and reset via the lower pusher). The black dial features tritium hour markers that have developed a vintage tropical gilt patina over time, flat second hand, and baton-type C2 hour and minute hands in tritium. The fixed tachymeter bezel is a B5-70-Style 1, surrounding a plexiglass hesalite crystal (Category A). The three subdials for hours, minutes, and seconds offer easy time tracking. The “S” in “Speedmaster” is of the elongated “Big S” style.

The Omega Speedmaster chronograph is a versatile timepiece — aviation, aerospace, motorsports — whose functionality, story, and vintage look have made it iconic since its launch. It’s a favorite among test pilots from Edwards AFB and NAS Patuxent River... and is often seen on the wrists of celebrities in both vintage and modern versions.
