Cartier Santos women's watch with automatic winding in steel, a star mechanical luxury watch from the eighties, reference 2423 from 1994, a model with a silver dial that indicates the day's date in an aperture at five o'clock. Waterproof watch with sapphire glass and a crown decorated with a blue ruby cabochon. The steel Santos-type bracelet is extended by an invisible clasp with a folding structure that adjusts to the wrist by adding or removing links.
The Cartier Santos is an iconic model that originated in the early twentieth century, on the initiative of an adventurous aviator, Alberto Santos-Dumont and his friend, the famous jeweller Louis Cartier. At the forefront of the non-conformism that befits the time, Cartier created a wristwatch for his reckless companion that he could carry on his flights without letting go of the controls of his plane (at a time when watches were stored in our pockets). The famous Cartier jewellery house, having long opted for communication around the world of art, great artists and crowned heads, the Santos de Cartier watch was propelled onto the front pages of magazines and onto the wrists of the stars who were to write the history of the eighties and nineties. At the dawn of the 1980s, this watch, somewhat forgotten since the Roaring Twenties, will benefit from the tremendous creativity of this new wave and will be reborn on the wrists of celebrities and prominent personalities of the moment.
Watch that for both men and women, this model of watch, initially masculine, will be modified by Cartier for a feminine model. This Cartier Santos lady edition will conquer the world watch market in a few months and establish itself as a synonym of French luxury to this day.
The watch presented here and available in the mostra-store store in Aix en Provence is a Santos lady galbée model with automatic winding in steel, a vintage second-hand watch in perfect condition and guaranteed for two years. It is equipped with the Cartier calibre 077T movement with twenty-five jewels. Its waterproof case of twenty-four millimetres allows it to go in the water and claims a water resistance of 3 atm. The silvered and guilloché dial is adorned with tritium indexes (T swiss mention at the bottom of the dial) and a time rail embellished with Roman numerals. This elegance has become in the collective unconscious like the hallmark of the house Cartier. This movement can display the current date. A window aperture is discreetly positioned at five o'clock on the dial to indicate this. The Santos bracelet has an elegant invisible clasp with folding branches. The watch is sold with its original red cushion case.
In terms of use, this watch is worn as much as a piece of jewellery as a modern timepiece. Water resistant and equipped with a sapphire crystal, it will land safely on the wrists of the wisest but will always be available for action and adventure. Its robust anti-shock movement does not have to fear a life made up of movements. From a collection point of view, this vintage watch, a muse of the 1980s twenty represents a time when watches knew how to be discreet without forcing their personality to be forgotten. Watch with non-conformist forms and steeped in history, the Santos model, beyond the iconic model of the Cartier house, represents a time when it is appropriate to assert one's points of view and live in the present. Cartier and its vintage watches are experiencing the upward effects of the market with a lag in the second-hand watch market. In the same way as more commercial productions such as those of Rolex. Acquiring a Cartier remains very advantageous for the moment, which cannot continue indefinitely, as Cartier's quality and unprecedented elegance arouse passions and desires.
