The legendary vintage Rolex Submariner 6536 as worn by Sean Connery in the early James Bond 007 films. An exceptional 1958 piece that continues to drive collectors to scour auction houses. A vintage diving watch that paved the way for generations of submariner watches with graduated rotating bezels, this highly rare model has developed over time a natural patina: the Rolex Oyster Perpetual and Submariner inscriptions on the lacquered dial have faded to a matte finish, highlighting the depth rating "100m=330fts" in white. The luminous baton and dot hour markers are in gilt.
This timepiece, a great classic of cinema, has left a lasting mark. A symbol of adventure and travel, it has over time established itself as an essential icon among collectible watches. Introduced in 1954 and released in multiple variations and formats, the Submariner has continued to evolve and modernize without ever straying far from its original design. To this day, it remains the most sold and most sought-after Rolex model worldwide.
This watch features a Rolex Caliber 1030 automatic movement with 25 jewels and bidirectional winding. It is equipped with a so-called "Butterfly" rotor. The 37.5 mm case has a screw-down caseback, signed and numbered on the inner side. The crown, unguarded and small in size, bears the Rolex logo—one of the key characteristics of the first series of Rolex 6536 references. While Rolex guaranteed its waterproofness back in 1958, this high-value vintage watch—now of considerable age—is no longer recommended for diving. However, it will pair just fine with a drive in your Aston Martin… after all, you only live twice, don’t you?
