Pre-owned Rolex Submariner diving watch for men or women, 40 mm, reference 14060M (for Modified Movement)—a model Rolex produced between 1999 and 2010. This reference was introduced to replace the previous Rolex Submariner 14060, which used the caliber 3000 (a slightly less advanced movement than the caliber 3130 with 31 jewels found in this watch, whose serial number begins with Z).
This watch is also remarkable as one of the last Rolex Submariner 14060M models to feature the two-line dial. From the second half of 2007 onward, the Rolex Submariner 14060M would adopt a four-line dial with the mention “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified”, celebrating the COSC-certified precision of the caliber 3130 movement.
The Rolex Submariner is one of the most iconic diving watches in the world and remains, year after year, the most sought-after model globally. Long considered the perfect entry point into the world of professional Rolex watches, its celebrated silhouette has lit up the screens and adorned the wrists of icons like Steve McQueen, Pablo Picasso, Roger Moore, or Sean Connery in his role as 007 James Bond. In recent years, many prominent women have embraced the trend of wearing Submariners, driven by the “big is beautiful” wave, expressing a boldness that breaks away from the traditional, delicate codes of women's watches.
In terms of functionality, this Rolex 14060M is a Submariner that is both comfortable to wear and offers great underwater legibility, thanks to the contrast between bold hands and a clean black dial free from superfluous text. The knurled and graduated rotating bezel allows you to track dive start times or measure remaining compressed air. The stop-seconds feature lets you sync your time with your dive partner or group. Thanks to the Parachrom hairspring, the watch will handle extreme temperature shifts—such as jumping into cool water after sun exposure on the dive boat—without issue.
The sapphire crystal protects the watch from scratches during underwater exploration, while the bracelet features an integrated extension system allowing quick adjustment over a wetsuit. The secure Fliplock clasp ensures a firm grip on the wrist through a snap-and-lock deployment mechanism. In short, the perfect companion for divers and water sports enthusiasts alike.
From a collector’s standpoint, this beautiful piece is often considered a landmark model that marks the beginning of the professional Rolex range while remaining a luxury watch known for both its quality and reputation. With its instantly recognizable aesthetic, it pairs effortlessly with casual-chic attire, much like its cousin—the Tudor Submariner—which inspired many of its enhancements (see article on the topic in Mostra Mag). Queen of the Oceans and a collector’s staple, its rising value and limited availability make it a must-have in any modern or vintage timepiece collection.
