Vintage Rolex Explorer II black dial watch, pre-Millennium (initial) edition from 1998. One of the earliest models of the Professional line that Rolex produced (between April 1997 and 2011), under the designation Explorer II Black Superluminova. Round case in 904L steel, 40 mm in diameter and 11 mm thick.

A vintage watch designed for those who travel frequently or work across multiple time zones. No matter where you are, the Rolex Explorer II can indicate both local time in day/night mode and your reference or destination time, thanks to its two adjustable hour hands — one of which is a small red arrow. COSC-certified chronometer movement with 31 jewels, Rolex calibre 3185 GMT, self-winding and featuring a quickset date. The unique anti-magnetic steel ensures this watch remains reliable in any environment. Based on an evolution of the Rolex calibre 3135, the movement includes an adjustable balance wheel capable of absorbing shocks. The screw-down case back and crown make it water-resistant to 100 m.

Elegant and highly legible dial offering dual 12- and 24-hour time reading, with a red GMT hand that makes a full rotation in 24 hours and can be read on the fixed 24-hour graduated bezel. The arrow hand is independently adjustable to change or display a second time zone as needed. Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with quickset date and Cyclops lens. Comfortable 904L steel bracelet.

This timepiece, part of the classic Rolex collection, allows the display of two time zones without requiring visual cues to distinguish day from night in the reference location — a crucial feature in international business to avoid waking someone in the middle of the night. With its clean and elegant lines, it fits perfectly in a refined environment. Its robust and compact case allows it to be worn close to the wrist. The fixed bezel, flush with the case, avoids the protruding edges found on rotating bezels of Rolex diving models like the Submariner — which tend to scratch delicate surfaces more easily.

Its Triplock diving-type crown, protected by crown guards, contributes to the water resistance of this automatic watch, which offers a 50-hour power reserve when fully wound. The adjustable bracelet, allowing links to be added or removed, and the extendable deployant clasp, which can be adjusted at any time without tools, offer great versatility. With its 40 mm diameter and compact thickness, it fits all wrist sizes and can easily slip under a shirt cuff — ideal for secure travel wear.
