SpecificitiesCadran Polar Superluminova très recherché qui a fait la renomée de ce modèle

The alternative revolution of the Rolex Explorer II model: A white dial that gave this version, initially referenced as 16570-001 under the name Rolex Explorer II White Tritium, the nickname “Rolex Explorer II Polar.” In 1997, with the evolution of the luminous material, the reference changed to 16570-003 Polar Superluminova (the 16570-002 reference was reserved for the black dial "Black Tritium" version — a rare reversal of the usual dial hierarchy in the range).
A detail that meant a lot to Rolex but went nearly unnoticed at the time. Based on observations from the aviation industry regarding the visual strain required to read black dials during low-light periods at dawn or dusk — moments prone to fatigue and mishaps — Rolex revolutionized a market traditionally dominated by black or dark dials. Their solution? A simple one, echoing the story of Columbus' egg: the clarity and safety of a white dial were immediately recognized by professional users. Navigation and exploration watches would never look the same again. This clean, legible, high-contrast appearance has since proven itself and is now a staple in the catalogs of every major watchmaker — and on the wrists of many renowned personalities.
The watch was originally fitted with the Rolex 3185 GMT movement with 31 jewels, quickset date, adjustable balance wheel, and shock absorption. In 2005, to improve performance, the movement was upgraded to the 3186 GMT calibre, offering around 50 hours of power reserve and operating at 28,800 beats per hour. The 40 mm case is made of 904L Oystersteel, a hypoallergenic and anti-magnetic stainless steel alloy, ensuring consistent reliability regardless of the environment. Highly legible 12- and 24-hour dial with slim red GMT hand, independently adjustable for second time zone display on the fixed 24-hour graduated bezel — which is slightly larger than on the previous model. The sapphire crystal resists scratches, and the Cyclops lens magnifies the date window.
The Twinlock screw-down crown, protected by crown guards, enhances the water resistance of this automatic watch, rated to withstand immersion up to 100 meters. The robust and compact case of the Explorer II 16570, just 11 mm thick, allows it to sit close to the wrist. The fixed bezel eliminates the protruding edges found on rotating bezels of Rolex diving watches such as the Submariner or GMT-Master II — which are more likely to scratch delicate surfaces. The watch presented here is a 2008 Rolex Explorer II 16570-3 with Polar Superluminova dial and 3186 movement. It is in perfect condition and ideal for collectors.
