Vintage collectible Rolex Explorer II watch with black dial, Millennium edition from 1999. A model from the Professional line produced by Rolex between April 1997 and 2011 under the designation Explorer II Black Superluminova. Round 904L stainless steel case with a diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of 11 mm.
A vintage timepiece designed for those who travel. Wherever you are, the Rolex Explorer II can display both local time in day/night mode and your reference or destination time thanks to its dual adjustable hour hands, including one red arrow-tipped hand. Chronometer-certified movement with 31 jewels, Rolex Caliber 3185, self-winding with quickset date function. The watch's specific, anti-magnetic steel ensures consistent reliability in any environment. This movement, based on an evolution of the Rolex 3135, includes a micro-adjustable balance and shock absorption system. Screw-down case back and crown, water-resistant to 100 meters.
The elegant and highly legible dial offers dual 12 and 24-hour reading, with the red GMT hand rotating once every 24 hours, readable via the fixed bezel's graduated scale. This hand can be independently adjusted to switch or display a time zone as needed. Sapphire crystal with scratch-resistant treatment and Cyclops lens over the quickset date window. The comfortable bracelet is made of 904L stainless steel.
This watch is among the great classics designated by Rolex. It allows you to display two time zones without needing a visual reference to determine whether it's day or night in your reference location — a particularly useful feature for international business, helping you avoid waking someone in the middle of the night. Despite its rugged capabilities, this watch also suits refined and elegant settings.
Its robust and compact case is worn close to the wrist. Unlike diving models such as the Submariner, which have protruding rotating bezels prone to scratching delicate surfaces, the fixed bezel of the Explorer II is seamlessly integrated with the case, avoiding such issues.
Its Triplock screw-down crown, protected by shoulders, enhances the water resistance of this automatic watch, which has a 50-hour power reserve. Finally, the adjustable bracelet — allowing link additions or removals — and the deployant clasp with extension (no tools required) make this a versatile watch. Its 40mm case and slim profile suit all wrist sizes, and allow it to be discreetly worn under a shirt cuff — an asset for safety when traveling.
