Collectible Omega Speedmaster MK II watch from 1967, featuring a manual-winding mechanical movement powered by the calibre 861. This chronograph has a black 12-hour railroad track dial, housed in a brushed steel tonneau-shaped case with aerodynamic lines. Its chronograph functions are directly inherited from the Speedmaster Moonwatch, sharing its technical specifications. This model offers improved reliability and ease of winding compared to its predecessor thanks to its uniquely shaped case, which allows direct access to the crown without finger obstruction. This practical advantage made it especially appealing to glove-wearing users and professionals in need of a dependable chronograph. Enhanced water resistance also contributed to its popularity among racing drivers and motorcyclists—it became a familiar sight on the wrists of motorsport drivers and celebrities of that era.

Omega Speedmaster MK II three-register chronograph, a direct descendant of the original 1957 Speedmaster and successor to the Moonwatch. Produced between 1967 and 1972, it was widely adopted by both professional drivers and motorsport enthusiasts. It emerged at a time when Japanese quartz watches were beginning to surface, and society was eager to break away from the post-war era’s austerity. Designers began reshaping the Cold War-era aesthetic of the sixties, introducing new forms that influenced all consumer goods—including watches. Traditional round cases started evolving into broader shapes to match the emerging design codes. The Speedmaster MK II was Omega’s answer to this shift. With its brushed steel case in a distinct 1970s Space Age style, it perfectly embodied the Pop Art spirit of the time.
