Rolex watch vintage Oyster Perpetual Date from 1970, 34 mm case with brushed silver dial and black inscriptions. A collector’s watch, reference 1500, featuring baton indexes and hands, and a central sweeping second hand. Automatic movement with Rolex caliber 1570, chronometer-certified — a feature stated at the lower part of the dial. The stainless steel case has a screw-down back and crown. The watch is rated for 100 meters of water resistance, but due to its age and value, waterproof use is not recommended. The Plexiglas crystal includes a Cyclops magnifier over the date window positioned at 3 o'clock. The watch is delivered with its original riveted Rolex 7250 bracelet. It ends in an adjustable folding clasp decorated with the Rolex crown, and includes all original links.
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date reference 1500 was introduced in 1962, powered by the Rolex caliber 1570 with 26 jewels. This movement was used across several Rolex models of that era (Explorer, Submariner, Datejust, and Oyster Perpetual Date). It also led to the development of the 1575 GMT caliber used in the GMT-Master. Operating at 19,800 vibrations per hour, its compact height of 5.75 mm enabled the design of a particularly comfortable case without sacrificing durability, thanks to the Ultraflex shock system, or precision, with a 48-hour power reserve when fully wound.
This watch features a stop-seconds function that allows for precise time synchronization to the second by manipulating the crown. This elegant and understated collector’s timepiece is certified chronometer by the COSC in Geneva. It enjoyed uninterrupted success throughout its production run until the early 1980s and was equally at home in business or casual settings.
