Rolex watch vintage Oyster model in steel from 1965, reference 6426, with screw-down winding crown, silver-colored dial, steel indexes and Rolex insert. A collectible piece with classic lines whose production started in 1958 and ended in the late 1980s. Still appreciated and frequently worn today, it remains one of Rolex’s most iconic and collected models, thanks to its enduring popularity among vintage watch enthusiasts.
Classic watch, discreet and refined, with simple and efficient lines, it reflects the original vision of brand founder Hans Wilsdorf: to offer businessmen a sober, elegant, and robust timepiece.
With a 34 mm case, the Oystercase already offered a compact size for its time. Powered by the hand-wound Rolex calibre 1225 (as indicated by the "Precision" inscription at the bottom of the dial), its screw-down crown once provided water resistance that today would be considered splash-proof only—its vintage age making it unsuitable for immersion in water.
A nod to its twin model launched at the same time—the Rolex Air-King 5500—the Oyster Precision was often spotted on the wrists of 20th-century personalities and remains a Rolex collector's watch that enthusiasts tend to keep for a lifetime. It can be seen on Cary Grant’s wrist in his final film, "Walk, Don’t Run" directed by Charles Walters in 1966.
