The Rolex GMT-Master II ref. 116710LN is a full-set timepiece featuring a black 24-hour ceramic bezel and a green GMT hand. A rare (discontinued) model no longer available in the current Rolex collection, this watch—sometimes nicknamed the “GMT-Master II Dark Side” due to its black bezel and understated design—is hard to find on the pre-owned market. This timepiece is powered by the in-house Rolex Caliber 3186, a mechanical self-winding movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. It contains thirty-one jewels, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and is COSC-certified by the Geneva Observatory for its precision. It features a second time zone display (shown via the green arrow hand on the dial), along with a date aperture (quick-set via the 12-hour local time hand).

The movement incorporates all of Rolex’s modern advancements: a Parachrom hairspring for superior resistance to shocks and temperature changes, a shared architecture with other professional Rolex models to simplify servicing, and reinforced water resistance via the screw-down caseback and crown. The sapphire crystal is protected by a rotating bezel with a 24-hour black Cerachrom insert—commonly known as the “Dark Side” bezel.

In terms of functionality, this watch offers excellent user comfort: both the bracelet and the deployant clasp are adjustable—by adding or removing links, and by fine-tuning the clasp’s position. Its discreet and refined appearance sets it apart from Rolex’s flashier models. Its second time zone feature makes it ideal for remote workers or frequent travelers. Water-resistant to 100 meters and built to withstand outdoor activities, it can be worn in all situations without needing extra care—yet it remains elegant enough for formal or black-tie occasions, thanks to its black dial and bezel combination.

As a collector’s item, the Rolex GMT-Master II models are produced in limited quantities and are subject to Rolex’s tightly controlled production strategy (similar to the Daytona chronograph). The Rolex GMT-Master II 116710LN, now discontinued and no longer in the brand’s catalogue, stands out as both a rare and highly sought-after model. Its elegant and discreet style enhances its desirability. This particular model is a full set with original box and papers. It belongs to the V-series and was originally sold in France, as indicated on the warranty card.
