Collectible Panerai PAM 0118 Luminor Marina dive watch in titanium, a timepiece released in a limited edition of 3,500 pieces and commercialized only during the year 2002. This model echoes the design codes of military dive watches supplied by Officine Panerai of Florence to combat swimmer units of various naval formations, most notably the Decima MAS unit of the Italian Navy based in La Spezia.
Black sandwich dial with raised Luminova markers and a small seconds subdial at nine o’clock, as seen on the original models worn by Italian human torpedoes under Prince Valerio Borghese. This model, crafted with exceptional care, features a 44mm titanium case. It is powered by the OP XI calibre, a hand-wound movement based on the ETA 6497-1. The OP XI calibre features 17 jewels, a 56-hour power reserve, and beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour. It is chronometer-certified by the COSC. The 44mm titanium case includes a patented crown-protecting bridge with a locking lever, ensuring water resistance up to 300 meters. This patented device is a distinctive feature of the Luminor line and defines its iconic silhouette.
This limited edition of 3,500 pieces is also notable for its screw-down caseback with sapphire crystal, offering a view of the movement. The rhodium-plated finishing of this calibre is of high quality, on par with high-end manufacture complications. From a collector’s perspective, this is one of the first exceptional pieces developed by Panerai after the sale of Officine Panerai to the Richemont Group.
