Omega Speedmaster ref 3577.50 from Moon to Mars full-set limited edition circa 2005
The Speedmaster Professional chronograph watch, a limited edition from 2005, released for NASA’s From Moon to Mars mission. Featuring a black Moonwatch dial calibrated for 12 hours, highlighted by depictions of Earth, Mars, and the Moon on the three chronograph sub-dials. The luminous dial indexes and hands are enhanced with Luminova. Chronograph layout includes three totalizers for hours, minutes, and seconds. Comes with its original steel bracelet and an additional black NATO strap.
The Omega Speedmaster Professional Limited Edition From Moon to Mars Full Set. Vintage limited series from 2005, one of 2000 pieces, with its original box. Steel screw-down caseback, 42 mm, in excellent condition with “From Moon to Mars” engravings and serial number under 2000.
Manual-winding mechanical movement, Omega calibre C-1861, small seconds chronograph with Stop and Go function. Large central seconds hand, fixed tachymeter bezel surrounding Hesalite crystal. The Speedmaster chronograph is a testimonial, even visionary watch, symbolizing Omega’s commitment to accompany astronauts on future crewed missions to Mars. This forward-thinking project was born from an interview between Jean-Claude Biver and two passionate journalists: in 1996, Biver was head of Omega and welcomed Mr. SC and Mr. TS to discuss the brand’s strategic direction. Biver had just sold Blancpain to Nicolas Hayek and joined him to develop Omega, the sleeping beauty of the Swatch Group. This meeting gave birth to several iconic limited editions: the Seamaster James Bond, the NASA Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo series.
This collector’s timepiece belongs to the lineage of Moonwatch special editions by Omega created in support of space exploration. Given the limited production, its story, and its pristine condition, its value for collectors is truly exceptional.
A collector’s watch in steel with a 42 mm screw-down caseback, water-resistant to 5 ATM, with exclusive engravings for this edition on the caseback. Black Luminova dial type C6, flat central seconds hand, and hour and minute hands in Type C3 Baton Luminova. Fixed tachymeter bezel type B5-dot Beneath 70-Style 1 surrounding a Plexiglas crystal. The three sub-dials representing hours, minutes, and seconds feature Earth, the Moon, and Mars.
