Omega Speedmaster Chronograph – 50th Anniversary of the Unicorn, a 2007 collector’s watch celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Speedmaster model. This limited edition was produced in only 5,957 pieces. It is a particularly interesting model for collectors, as it stands as a true anthology of the Speedmaster line.
Its black moonwatch-style dial features a railroad minute track and Luminova stick hour markers, along with two circular indexes at 12 o'clock—just like the special pre-Moon models with the Caliber 321 from the 1960s. At the top of the dial, a golden unicorn insert rests above the date of the original production of this iconic movement (1957), topped by the "50th Anniversary" inscription. Just below is the Speedmaster model name, with the elongated "S" found on later Caliber 861 models. Above the central hands is the Omega brand name and its Greek letter logo, screen-printed in red relief—a nod to the Speedmaster Mark II series from the 1970s. Finally, at the bottom of the dial, under the minute track, is the “Swiss Made” mark, which began appearing on Speedmaster dials in the early 1990s. The caseback is engraved with "Flight-Qualified by NASA for Manned Space Missions", referencing the Apollo and Gemini special editions from the 1960s, and the bracelet is a 1499/842 with a locking Omega Speedmaster Professional deployant clasp, similar to those found on Millennium models.
The watch is powered by the standard Omega Caliber C 1861, which drives the chronograph with stop-second function. Its two pushers and screw-down crown ensure water resistance up to 5 ATM, with a 48-hour power reserve. The Plexiglas crystal, engraved with a small Omega logo at its center, is framed by the iconic B5-type tachymeter bezel—perfectly complementing the silhouette of this legendary model.
