Pre-owned Junghans watches

Founded in 1861 in Schramberg, Germany, Junghans has earned acclaim for its craftsmanship and design expertise. Known for its collaboration with Max Bill and for being the official timekeeper of the 1972 Olympics, the brand creates elegant, functional timepieces. At Mostra Store, our curated selection of pre-owned Junghans watches includes iconic models like the Meister Chronoscope and vintage Max Bill pieces, celebrated for their Bauhaus aesthetics and outstanding German engineering—a favorite among watch and design enthusiasts alike.

Junghans is a German watch manufacturer founded in 1861 by Erhard Junghans and his brother-in-law Jakob Zeller-Tobler in the town of Schramberg, nestled in the heart of the Black Forest. Initially specializing in wall clocks, the company experienced explosive growth: by 1903, it had become the largest watchmaking factory in the world, with over 3,000 employees. This industrial power was matched by a relentless drive for innovation, establishing Junghans as a pillar of German horology throughout the 20th century.

In 1927, Junghans began producing wristwatches and quickly gained recognition in both civilian and military sectors. The brand's timepieces were notably used by Luftwaffe pilots during World War II, thanks to their robustness and accuracy—qualities that further cemented its reputation. A major turning point came in the 1950s through a collaboration with Swiss designer Max Bill, a Bauhaus alumnus. Together, they created a series of iconic clocks and watches with minimalist design, some of which are now featured in the MoMA in New York.

The Max Bill collection, launched in 1961, continues to embody the clean, functional spirit of that era. It remains a cornerstone of Junghans' catalog, alongside the Meister collection, which includes classic timepieces with refined complications like the Chronoscope, as well as modern lines such as Form and Force Mega Solar, featuring technologies like radio-controlled synchronization and solar power.

Junghans also stands out for its technical innovations. In 1972, the brand was chosen as the official timekeeper of the Munich Olympic Games. In the 1990s, it launched the world's first radio-controlled wristwatch—the MEGA 1—a technological feat developed in partnership with Frog Design. In 1995, Junghans broke new ground again with a ceramic solar-powered watch, combining environmental consciousness with precision and comfort.

On the pre-owned market, Junghans watches are increasingly popular among collectors. Vintage Max Bill models, timepieces from the Meister line, and military chronographs such as the 1950s J88 are especially sought-after for their understated aesthetics and proven reliability. Their timeless design, German craftsmanship, and historical value make them prized additions for discerning collectors.

At Mostra Store, we proudly showcase this German horological heritage through a carefully curated selection of vintage and pre-owned Junghans timepieces. Choosing a Junghans watch means embracing a timepiece that seamlessly blends technical excellence, refined design, and rich history—where precision meets timeless style.
