Tudor Submariner Prince Oysterdate 79090 diving watch from 1992, successor to the Tudor 9401 Oyster Prince Submariner Snowflake from 1975. Featuring round and triangular hour markers, this model was produced exclusively as an automatic date version. It is worth noting that this model was also available with a blue dial. Equipped with the ETA 2824-2 automatic date movement, this version offers improved precision and greater shock resistance compared to the Tudor 9401 Submariner. The black dial variant was less popular at the time than its blue-dial counterpart, making it rarer today and a wise choice for any diving watch collection.
This Submariner is powered by the 28-jewel ETA 2824-2 automatic mechanical movement with date function, perlage finishing, and Geneva stripes. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers solid shock resistance thanks to its Incabloc Novodiac protection. Also featuring an Etachron regulator and stop-second function, it provides a power reserve of approximately 38 hours after full winding.
The stainless steel case features a screw-down caseback and drilled lugs for easier strap changes. The watch retains its original bracelet and Tudor-signed deployant clasp with a Fliplock safety feature to secure the watch on the wrist. This pre-owned collector’s piece is in excellent condition and still bears the original caseback sticker, indicating it has been lightly worn and is well-preserved.
