In the 1930s, it gained recognition by producing automatic watches on a large scale—an impressive achievement for the time.

But it was in 1953 that Glycine truly entered the watchmaking legend with the launch of its iconic model: the Airman. Developed in collaboration with U.S. Air Force pilots, this watch features a 24-hour display, a locking rotating bezel, and the ability to track multiple time zones without a dedicated GMT hand. It quickly became a must-have for both civilian and military aviators, even accompanying astronaut Pete Conrad on key missions of the Gemini space program.

In the 1960s, Glycine continued to push boundaries with the release of the Airman SST, a model inspired by the supersonic age and designed for commercial airline pilots. With its tonneau-shaped case and bold orange inner GMT bezel, the SST reflected the futuristic aesthetic of its era. Today, vintage Airman models are highly sought after by collectors around the world for their authenticity, reliability, and historical significance.

Since being acquired by the Invicta Group in 2016, Glycine has remained true to its DNA while benefiting from increased resources to expand distribution and modernize select collections. The brand now offers both automatic and quartz models, always faithful to its core values: durability, legibility, and practicality for modern-day adventurers.
