Tudor Submariner 76100 vintage Tritium circa 1984, with Mercedes hands. A diving watch model released at a time when Tudor watches still featured Rolex-signed cases. The case is made of stainless steel, with a screw-down crown and caseback. It houses the ETA 2824/2 automatic movement with date display.
This 21-jewel movement, in production since 1972, is based on the Eterna 1427 and 1439 calibers. It offers a 38-hour power reserve after full winding, and runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour. It features an Etachron regulator, Incabloc-Novodiac shock protection system, and a bidirectional rotor. This movement has been widely used by many luxury watch brands (IWC, Breitling, Hamilton, Omega, etc.).
The notched rotating bezel is black with a 60-minute graduation, with the first 15 minutes marked at each minute. The matte black dial is enhanced with round and triangular Tritium hour markers and displays the Tudor shield. The hour and minute hands are Mercedes-style, with a central seconds hand.
This wristwatch, produced in small numbers, is considered a transitional model between the Tudor Prince Oysterdate Submariner 79090 (produced between 1989 and 1994) and the Tudor Prince Date Submariner 79190 released in 1995. A diving watch produced exclusively in automatic version with date (just like the 79190), unlike the equivalent Rolex range (Rolex Submariner 16610 Tritium) which continued to offer a no-date model. This 39 mm Submariner is named after its distinctive hands, much like the lollipop version of the same era with a full hour hand.
