The RALF TECH WRB Automatic Purple Mood WRB-1010 belongs to that very particular family of watches whose identity never reveals itself entirely at first glance. Seen from the front, the dial appears deeply purple, almost dark, contained by a black bezel and the restraint of the satin-finished case. Then the light moves. Purple becomes plum, aubergine, amethyst and sometimes almost burgundy before recovering a cooler tone when the watch returns to shadow. This variation is not a secondary characteristic of the dial: it is the very heart of the model.

Purple occupies a rare place in watchmaking. Black reassures through sobriety, blue naturally recalls sky or sea, while green has established itself over recent years as a collector’s colour. Purple is more difficult to master. Too pale, and it loses depth. Too dark, and it almost disappears. Too brilliant, and it overwhelms the watch. The smoked purple sunray dial never presents a uniform surface. Its radial treatment carries the light from the centre toward the edge, while the darker periphery seems to hold the colour within the case. The satin surfaces of the 316L surgical-steel case play an essential role in this balance. A fully polished finish would have increased the brilliance of the dial and made the watch more demonstrative. Satin finishing absorbs part of the light and allows purple to become the true signature. It also preserves the instrument character associated with RALF TECH and visually accommodates the small marks of daily use better than a mirror-polished surface.

The black bezel frames the dial like a technical border. Its anodised aluminium insert possesses a softer light than glossy ceramic. It never attempts to compete with purple. It contains and structures the colour while immediately recalling the diving origin of the WRB. The graduations remain clear, the luminous triangle preserves its reference function and the broad notching enables direct operation.

Its 120-click unidirectional operation allows immersion time to be measured precisely while preventing accidental movement from suggesting that the diver has more time remaining underwater.
